It included the presentations for the last two years, as the awards had been disrupted due to Covid restrictions.

Alan and Val Mowatt were presented with the award for 2020. Together from their sitting room at home they broadcast regular online singing concerts, bringing joy to those stuck at home during the pandemic.

Not only that but during one live performance Alan took ill and was rushed to hospital where he underwent a quadruple heart bypass operation.

The operation was a success, with Alan making a full recovery, and he and Val were soon back entertaining. They even gave those attending the ceremony a quick performance.

The 2021 Citizen of the Year went to Sandra Ramsay who founded and runs the local charity Reach Across.

From its premises in Guthrie Port, the charity supports those suffering from mental health issues such as stress and anxiety.

Millgate Bar is run by Scott Wann, one of RLWW page’s main sponsors, and the ceremony was conducted by RLWW administrator Colin Nicoll.
