Angus enters a period of mourning

Today Angus enters a period of mourning following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A timetable of official events will be announced separately.

The Queens’ funeral will be held at Westminster Abbey and is expected to be in 10 or 11 days' time, with the date to be confirmed by Buckingham Palace.

Arrangements have been put in place by Angus Council to allow the public to make their own tributes in each of the Angus burghs.

Plans have also been put in place regarding local arrangements for when plans for the the Queen’s funeral are announced.

Schools:-

The Queens’ funeral is likely to be declared a bank holiday. If a bank holiday is declared, schools will be closed. There are no plans to close Angus schools before then.

Floral Tributes:-

Each burgh town has an identified location for the laying of flowers for the Monarch.

Carnoustie - Carnoustie War Memorial

Forfar - Outside Municipal Buildings (at front), Forfar

Kirriemuir - The Square – around Peter Pan
