Westmuir Village Hall is the only venue in which to meet and socialise and is used weekly for yoga and fitness dance classes and tots groups, while the local WRI meets monthly.

The rising cost of electricity, however, is causing concern to the commtitee treasurer, which is why the villagers have banded together to raise funds for the facility.

Up to 11 gardens will be available to view on Sunday (July 31), ranging in size and maturity, some as works in progress in the middle of renovations and others very near perfection.

The trail will include up to 11 gardens open throughout the village. The trail will include up to 11 gardens open throughout the village.

In addition, some residents will be selling their own crafts, possibly for their own charitable causes. There will also be activities for all ages with children catered for in some gardens.

The starting point will be Westmuir Hall, where trail maps will be given out on payment of an entry fee, which includes refreshments. Home baking will be on sale and there will be a tombola stall to raise more funds. Participating gardens will be with a flag as well as on the map.

Anyone wishing to extend their walk can also take in Westmuir Community Woodland or walk the Westmuir Loop from Kirriemuir.
