Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags took over the local landmark to enjoy a day of clay pigeon shooting and managed to raise money for charity in the process.

Mhairi Morriss, owner of Glad Rags Events and founder of Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags, said: “We have held our events at many impressive venues but our first at Glamis Castle was extraordinary. It oozes grandeur, the walls are steeped in history but surprisingly, it has the feeling of a much-loved family home. Never did I think I would be lucky enough to add Glamis Castle to our portfolio of venues.”

At the Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags event, some of the women were experienced shooters but many had never held a gun before.

All the equipment was supplied, and the ladies were taught the importance of safety and how to clay shoot properly, with targets set to suit the group’s ability.

On completion of the clay shooting element of the day, the group enjoyed a delicious lunch. Impressed by the surroundings and significance of the venue, event organiser Mhairi laughed: “It’s not every day you have lunch sitting in a room and at the very table that Kings, Queens, Prime Ministers and characters that we have all been taught about in our history lessons have sat before you.”

The guests were then treated to a relaxed fashion show by Country Ways which showcased some of its most popular brands.

Two of the models in the fashion show were event sponsors – Gillian Campbell who is a partner with Shepherd and Wedderburn and Carrie Keenan, Assistant Director of Investment Management for Brewin Dolphin Aberdeen.

Prizes, donated by the event sponsors were awarded to the ‘High Guns’, which is the highest scoring lady in each group.

A raffle was also held at the event which raised £700 for the charity Children 1st.

Mhairi concluded: “I knew this was going to be an exceptional day, but it surpassed even my expectations. From start to finish it was extraordinary in every way.”
