Bursary for talented Angus musician

A young Angus musician has received a bursary from Tayside Symphony Orchestra (TSO) to assist with his musical studies.

Talented percussionist Peter Ney received the Ron Walker Bursary from Chairman William McLeod.

The bursary, named in honour of TSO’s founder, is awarded to a young player who has performed regularly with TSO while at school and is studying music at university.

Peter joined in 2010 and most recently led the orchestra’s percussion section at its June concert.

A former pupil of Arbroath High School and a graduate of Aberdeen University’s music department, he will soon be entering his second year at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where he is studying for a Master of Music degree.

Peter is well known in local music circles, being a member of multiple groups across the north east area as well as in America.
