Basin Rambler bus service makes welcome return to Montrose

A special free heritage bus service will operate on selected weekend dates throughout the summer to link some of the tourist attractions in and around Montrose.

The popular Basin Rambler has returned and will operate on a route serving Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre, House of Dun and the Caledonian Steam Railway at Bridge of Dun.

It will also stop at Montrose High Street and at the National Rail station in Montrose.

The popular service returns this year after being cancelled for two summers by the pandemic.

The service is operated by the Angus Transport Group, a local charity which owns, restores and maintains a small private collection of buses for use on special services such as the Basin Rambler or for display at local and national vehicle shows.

No fares are charged on the Basin Rambler and all drivers are volunteers, although are professionally trained.

The service will run on July 3, 10, 24, 31, August 7 and 21 August.

Additionally, a bus service will operate to different a different timetable on the Days out with Thomas weekends (July 16/17, August 27/28) and the August Diesel Weekend on August 12–14.
