Arbroath couple celebrate Diamond day

An Arbroath couple celebrated their Diamond Anniversary recently with a family gathering at home.

Harry and Margaret Gauld were married on March 24, 1962 at Lochee West Church in Dundee.

Mr Gauld worked an electrical engineer for Dundee-based companies prior to branching out with his own company, Wardall Electrical, which was based in Strathmartin Road Dundee.

The couple moved to Arbroath where they are now both happily retired and Mr Gauld spends his time pursusing his hobby of fly fishing and spending time in his garden.

Mrs Gauld formerly worked in William Low’s supermarket, then The Abbeygate and latterly Pert’s fish shop in Arbroath.

The couple have have two sons, one of whom lives in Australia, and four grandchildren.

They travel to Australia as often as possible to visit their son and his family .

On Saturday during a family celebration they received a visit from Angus Provost Ronnie Proctor, Lord-Lieutenant of Angus Patricia Sawers and local councillor Lois Speed.

The Diamond couple received a card from her Majesty The Queen, a bouquet of flowers from Angus Council and a fine bottle of Scotch whisky.
