The week is a national event hosted by Championing Social Care and is designed to connect care homes across the UK with their local communities.

This year, Lunan Court, which is owned by HC-One, has chosen the theme ‘Summer Celebration’ for its activities and events across the week.

Activities will be held at the 44-bed welcoming purpose-built home which offers nursing and nursing dementia care services throughout the week, culminating in a Summer Celebration on Friday, July 1.

It will host a Hawaiian-themed garden party with a variety of fun-filled activities, entertainment, and refreshments throughout the day including fancy dress, arts and crafts, dancing and singing to music performed by an entertainer and a tasty buffet on offer.

After having to celebrate Care Home Open Week virtually during the Covid-19 pandemic, residents and staff are looking forward to opening their doors once again to come together with family, friends, and the wider community.

If you are interested in getting involved with the home’s celebrations and programme of events, or if you would like to attend the Summer Celebration event on Friday, please contact the Careline Team on 0333 999 8563 to find out more.

Ursula Schneider, home manager, said: “We are really excited that we will be able to open our doors again to welcome our friends, family, and wider community to come together in a celebration of summer for Care Home Open Week.

“The pandemic has been a challenging time for all of us, but the week is a chance to reconnect with our community and to invite people to learn more about our home and the important part we play in supporting older people in the local area.”
