Green Flag recognises Broughty Ferry garden’s high standard


The garden is one of seven sites in the Dundee area to receive the national Green Flag Award.
Recognising the very best of the country’s outdoor areas, the International Green Flag Award acts as a benchmark for clean, safe and well-maintained parks and green spaces.

Hide AdAdministered in Scotland by Keep Scotland Beautiful, the Green Flag Award supports the opportunities that our green spaces provide to enable exercise, improve mental well-being and provide safe spaces for play.
The other sites are Trottick Mill Ponds Local Nature Reserve, Baxter Park, Templeton Woods, Dundee Law, Slessor Gardens and Riverside Nature Park.
Winners of the 2023 awards include parks managed by local authorities, community groups, universities and other organisations.
The news has been welcomed by Broughty Ferry councillor Kevin Cordell.

Hide AdHe said: "Barnhill Rock Garden is receiving its 17th Green Flag Award this year and it is fantastic to see the city’s greenspaces and our hard-working community groups being recognised.
"There are innovative partnerships between the council and volunteers to maintain high standards throughout the year.
“Many of Dundee’s sites are long-term winners and these awards showcase some of the wonderful spots Dundee has to offer, as well as highlighting the attention our volunteers give to them to keep them looking so nice."
Jamie Ormiston, Senior Awards Officer at Keep Scotland Beautiful, said that every park has a wide range of people visiting them and their requirements can vary.
