The local authority has also asked consultants ARCADIS to look at draw up proposals to improve active travel from Brechin to Montrose; Friockheim to Arbroath; School Road, Tealing; and National Cycle Network (NCN) Route 1 between Elliot Links and East Haven.

ARCADIS has created a virtual consultation room where the proposed route options for each scheme can be viewed and feedback given via a dedicated survey.

A council spokesperson said: “You can comment on as many or as few of the schemes as you like. Your views will be used to help select the preferred option for each scheme, with a feasibility report produced for each scheme later this Spring.”

There are four proposals for the Kirriemuir-Forfar route including use of former railway line for shared use, as well as a shared use path running alongside the A926.

Transport Scotland’s Cycling, Walking & Safer Routes (CWSR) fund and the Tayside and Central Scotland Transport Partnership (TACTRAN are funding these feasibility studies.

Details of how to access the consultation, which will be open until March 16, can be found on Angus Council’s Facebook page.
