Appeal for witnesses after attempted robbery in Arbroath

Police in Arbroath are appealing after the attempted robbery of a 60-year-old man.

The incident took place on Seaton Road, at around 11.50pm on Monday, February 6, when the man was attacked by two men. A short time later, the pair returned to the area with a third man and assaulted the victim again.The three suspects are described as all being aged 18-23, between 5ft 9 and 5ft 10 tall and at the time were wearing dark hoodies with the hoods up. The third man, who joined the second attack, had a noticeably larger build. All three spoke with a local accent.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 4185 of February 6, 2023 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.Detective Constable Greg Dempster said: “This is completely unacceptable, a man on his way home has been attacked for no reason. It’s imperative we trace the men responsible.“I would ask anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to think back and consider if they noticed anything suspicious, or may have seen a red hatchback car in the area, as it may assist our enquiries. In particular, if anyone has a dash cam device, please check your footage as it could hold images which would assist in identifying those responsible.”
