How to bring Bridgerton’s lavish style in to your own home

A craze for luxury home interiors with a dash of Regency style has been linked to a television series and the exuberant homes and furnishings it showcases.

Bridgerton is back on our screens, following the fortunes of Daphne Bridgerton and her adventures around aristocratic London.

With the show reaching 82 million households over 72 countries, the world has, it seems, fallen for the ‘Bridgerton effect’, and it is making its way into our homes.

From an 81 per cent increase in Google searches for ‘Bridgerton bedrooms’, to a 28 per cent increase in antique chairs in recent months, regency-inspired interiors are becoming all the rage – some 200 years after the original trend.

The effect is even reaching social media, with over 210 million views on TikTok under ‘royalcore’ aesthetics.

So if you seek to recreate the regal look of Queen Charlotte’s palace, or the swaggering abodes of the Bridgertons and Featheringtons, woSon, an online design-led furniture brand, and its stylist experts, has collated its most opulent and in demand décor and styling tips to suit individual traits.

The Duke Of Hastings

If, like the Duke of Hastings, you are a passionate, driven individual, you should include statement pieces to reflect your bold yet stylish personality.

First, you need to invest in a decadent armchair. From conversation and whisky drinking between The Duke and Anthony Bridgerton, to royal appointments with the Queen in her flamboyant home, the armchair has been a consistent piece of furniture for scenes in the show.

Why not accompany your existing sofa with a co-ordinating piece, such as the Winston armchair with its scrolled arm rests and dark wood feet…

And for under your royal feet? Inspired by the majestic patterns and regal jewel tones of The Duke of Hastings home, a hand tufted rug is the perfect companion. Choose a geometric pattern in peacock green and gold for a pairing Madame Delacroix would be proud of.

Queen Charlotte

If, like Queen Charlotte, you negotiate busy, stressful days, you may be in need of a little TLC.

There has been a 500 per cent increase in sales in the Berlin Ottoman Footstool since January 2022. With a plush top cushion and dark oak legs, this footstool is perfect to prop your legs as you watch the show’s next season.

Daphne Bridgerton

If, like Daphne, you love nothing more than to resign to your chambers and relax after an exhausting day, your bedroom is the most important room in your abode.

In the show, peeks are allowed into Daphne’s ocean-toned boudoir, but you’re going to need an extravagant headboard, like the one on Swoon’s Kipling king size ottoman bed.

This frame has a tall, pleated headboard and curling wing sides, with hidden storage for feather fascinators and underskirts (or jeans and trainers) to save clutter in your chamber. Why not customise your headboard in Petrol Blue velvet?

To accompany your new bed frame, there are bedside tables

Swoon’s head of design, Sam Baldry, said:  “In many of the Bridgerton sets, symmetry and balance play a crucial part in creating satisfying scenes. You can re-establish this in your own home by placing your bed against a wall centrally, and adding matching tables either side of it.”

For a touch of class, try a pair of nesting side tables such as the Seymour. These white marble and black steel circular tables positively ooze opulence.

Lady Whistledown

Are you a budding author or gossip like Lady Whistledown?

If you are inspired by this lady’s ability to capture a town’s imagination, a writing desk is an essential. The Terning writing desk features the dark wood of the regency era, but with the modern twist of a tessellated cube pattern engraved into its façade. With a roomy drawer to store parchment and quills.

Lady Portia Featherington

Determined and cunning, image is a big deal for Lady Portia Featherington. And antique style mirrors can add a Bridgerton-esque character to your dwelling.

Deco-inspired, metal plated mirrors such as the Claddagh would sit perfectly in the Featherington home. A brass plated, rectangular geometric mirror will add light and sparkle.
