Ribbon cut to mark new gym's opening

It now features cutting edge cardio and fixed resistance machines, multifunctional and colour-coded training zones, enhanced audio and visual solutions as well as equipment which syncs to apps and monitors workouts. The updated equipment is suitable for all fitness levels.

This is the second gym transformation in the past month by ANGUSalive, and follows the recent reopening of the new-look gym at Brechin Community Campus

Cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony was Scotland Squash Masters Internationalist Peter Buchan, who hails from Montrose. Peter is also an ANGUSalive NASA athlete (National Athlete Support Angus) a scheme that provides athletes complimentary access to our sports centres and grant aid support.

Peter said: “I think the new gym looks fantastic and can’t wait for everyone to try it. The new technology and equipment enhances Montrose Sports Centre’s offering for the local community.”

The event was also attended by ANGUSalive Chief Executive Kirsty Hunter, board director Councillor Lynne Devine and ANGUSalive staff.

Ms Hunter added: “I’m delighted to be opening another fantastic space at Montrose which has closely followed the upgrade to the gym at Brechin Community Campus and I invite the local community to get active with us.

“We’re really pleased with the feedback received so far with our new fitness spaces which are part of a programme to invest in our sport and leisure venues. Work to improve the dance studio at Arbroath Sports Centre is already underway and Carnoustie Sports Centre has benefited from upgraded gym equipment with further improvements in the pipeline. We’ll be announcing even more plans across Angus soon.”

The investment for the programme will come from cash set aside within the trust’s Renewal and Repair Fund (R&R Fund) which the charity has made annual contributions towards since it was established in 2015. The fund is critical to the success of ANGUSalive by ensuring that it can continue to reinvest in its services.
