Rae’s Restaurant and Appetite for Angus have created a five-course tasting menu for The Great Angus Dinner, with each course inspired by and focused on one of the county’s local producers and their products.

There will also be three paired cocktails which have been inspired locally.

And they hope that the event will encourage more people to use local and seasonal produce, as well as it being an opportunity to shout about the area’s rich and varied food and drink offering.

Appetite for Angus, which is an initiative of Angus Tourism Co-operative, is the county’s regional food group comprising local businesses which are working together.

Their aims is to benefit of the industry as a whole while promoting the offering of the county and linking businesses together for a joined-up approach of working.

A spokesperson said: “We have some of the most iconic produce in the region in Aberdeen Angus Beef, the Smokie and Berries are the obvious ones that spring to mind but we have so much more to shout about as well with so many fantastic producers and places to eat to shout about.”

The dinner will be held at 7.30pm on September 27, with a daytime get-together event for food and drink businesses which looks to build their network of connections. This will be held on the same day, between 11am and 1pm, and anyone wishing to attend should contact Nick Warren-Bennett, Appetite for Angus co-ordinator, by emailing [email protected].

Rae’s opened in March this year and, from the outset, its aim was to bring locally-sourced, responsibly-farmed food, to the table and showcase Angus’s prime produce.

They take the ‘farm-to table’ approach and work directly with local farmers and producers.

They use entirely local and seasonal produce to ensure that they are working as sustainably as possible.
